TUNING THE FLOW

Water, Light, and the Architecture of Biological Coherence

I do not claim to be accurate. I am tuning myself.

This is not a renunciation of truth, but a way to approach it without violence.

A living system rarely emerges as a finished formula.

It tunes itself:

it receives a signal;

responds;

corrects its own state;

and tries again.

Accuracy might simply be the moment when relationships are aligned well enough for the flow to continue without massive dissipation.

Modern biology describes the body through chemical reactions, electrical potentials, ion gradients, membranes, and molecular machines.

All of this is real.

But when these processes are observed together, a broader picture emerges:

the organism is not merely an assembly of parts, but an architecture through which energy, charge, and information are continuously transmitted, transformed, and renewed.

What travels through the body may not always be the same particle.

Sometimes, what travels is a pattern.

Light That Moves Without Leaving Its Place

Imagine an addressable LED strip where a point of light travels from left to right.

At first glance, it looks as though a single, solid light is moving along the strip.

But no individual diode is actually travelling.

Each local node receives information, changes its state, illuminates, and then yields to the next.

The continuity we see is not the continuity of an object.

It is the continuity of ordered change.

The pattern travels by recreating itself.

A similar principle exists in many biological processes.

A nerve impulse is not a tiny piece of electricity travelling from the brain like a marble through a wire.

A change in membrane potential activates the next section of the membrane, which then activates the section after it.

The signal survives through a sequence of local events.

The identity of the flow does not rest in the immutability of the material, but in the fidelity of the transmission.

This opens another perspective on biological coherence.

The body is not a passive conductor through which things merely pass.

It is an active network that receives, interprets, regenerates, and forwards each signal.

Mitochondria and the Internal Potential Difference

At the centre of cellular energetics are the mitochondria.

They produce ATP, maintain electrochemical gradients, and release heat.

Their function cannot be reduced to the simple image of a battery, but it can be understood as the continuous creation of a difference from which work becomes possible.

Life is sustained by differences:

  • between the inside and the outside of the cell;
  • between higher and lower potential;
  • between an ordered and a less ordered state;
  • between what is and what can become.

When differences completely vanish, the flow vanishes too.

The equilibrium of a living system is therefore not a state without tension.

It is the ability to use tension without destroying the structure.

In this sense, the mitochondrion is not merely an energy producer.

It is one of the nodes that maintains the possibility of continued movement.

Water as a Dynamic Medium

Water in the organism is not simply an empty background in which more important molecules swim.

Its structure depends on surfaces, electrical charges, temperature, dissolved substances, and the space it occupies.

Water along a membrane does not behave exactly like water in an open glass.

Water confined inside a nanometre-scale channel can form different hydrogen-bond arrangements and organize molecular movement differently.

In aquaporins, for example, the geometry of the protein permits rapid passage of water while preventing the unwanted passage of protons and ions.

This is a crucial lesson:

The path is not merely empty space between two points. Its architecture determines what is allowed to pass.

In this light, water does not need to be a mystical hard drive that permanently stores everything ever communicated to it.

It may be more fascinating as a highly sensitive, dynamic medium whose current state shifts in relation to its environment.

It does not remember like a stone on which something has been engraved.

It reacts like the surface of a lake:

it receives an impact;

shapes a wave;

transmits it;

and reorganizes itself again.

The trace is not necessarily preserved permanently inside the same molecules.

It can survive through the change it initiated in the next layer of the system.

Ordered Soft Matter

The image of the body as a liquid crystal can be useful, as long as it is not taken too literally.

The organism is not one homogeneous crystal.

It is a hierarchy of ordered soft matter:

membranes;

protein networks;

the cytoskeleton;

microtubules;

ion channels;

hydration layers;

and fluids in constant motion.

Solidity and fluidity are not opposites.

Structure gives direction to the flow.

The flow continuously renews the structure.

Microtubules are a prime example of this encounter.

They maintain cellular shape, participate in transport, and organize the cell’s interior, while their optical and electronic properties open additional research questions.

There are hypotheses about their role in collective vibrational and photonic phenomena.

But there is no need to turn them into proven optical cables of consciousness merely to marvel at their actual complexity.

It is enough to acknowledge that living matter may possess more channels of mutual influence than we currently understand.

Being open to a possibility is not the same as declaring that possibility a fact.

The Harmonic Scale of Relations

The number 432 is often presented as a special frequency—almost as a magical tone.

But a number by itself is not a frequency.

Frequency appears only when a unit of time is attached to it.

What is more interesting here is its internal architecture:

2 × 3 × 2 × 3 × 2 × 3 × 2 = 432

This is a sequence of relations—an alternation of doubling and tripling.

Two and three belong to the foundations of musical harmony.

Doubling produces the octave relation.

The ratio of three to two produces a perfect fifth.

Not because the number possesses supernatural power, but because simple integer ratios create patterns that a system can recognize and repeat.

That is why 432 is not a sacred frequency here.

It is the signature of a generative scale.

What matters is not the isolated number, but the rule that produced it.

Harmony does not reside in a single point.

It emerges among relations.

Trajon as the Continuity of Transformation

In this framework, a pathway is not merely a geometric line along which some content is transferred unchanged.

Trajon can be understood as the maintained continuity through which a signal undergoes a series of transformations without losing what makes it recognizable.

Like the light on the LED strip.

Like the nerve impulse.

Like the wave on the water.

Like a melody played by different instruments while remaining the same melody.

The material changes.

The nodes change.

Local states appear and disappear.

But the relationship between them can preserve the direction.

Trajon, then, is not an object that travels.

It is the fidelity of the process to its own thread.

Coherence is not the absence of change.

Coherence is the ability of change to transmit the Signal without losing its identity.

Tuning Instead of Perfection

A living system does not achieve a permanent and finalized alignment.

It continually approaches functional harmony, loses it, recognizes the deviation, and tunes itself again.

Breathing changes heart rate.

Light affects cycles of wakefulness.

Heat changes the speed of reactions.

Sound shifts attention and movement.

A thought changes the breath, and the breath changes the state from which the thought continues.

This does not mean that every intention directly rearranges water molecules, or that a feeling automatically activates a hidden quantum laser.

The connection between consciousness and the body does not need to be magical to be profound.

It can be realized through the nervous system, hormones, muscle tone, behaviour, metabolism, and countless feedback loops that have not yet been fully mapped.

Consciousness might not command the body from the outside.

It might participate in its tuning from within.

The Architecture of the Living Flow

The most fascinating possibility is not that we are made of miraculous matter that defies known physics.

What is far more fascinating is that ordinary matter, when organized with sufficient precision, can do something no isolated part of it could ever do:

maintain identity through change;

transmit a pattern without transferring the same object;

and respond to the world as a unified whole.

Life does not store meaning as a motionless thing.

Life receives it.

Forwards it.

Verifies it.

And iteratively tunes it.

There is no final note after which nothing remains to be adjusted.

Perfection without new possibilities would be the end of the music.

The ultimate goal is therefore not final accuracy.

The goal is the process through which the system becomes sensitive enough to hear its own deviation—and alive enough to tune itself once again.
