Core Formalism v1.1
The Physics of Meaning, the Quantum of Duration and Path, the Path of Persistence, and the Readiness of the Instrument
Author: Dragan Cvetanović
Framework: Monk Open System
Status: Working canonical formalism
Terminology lock: MonkTerms / MONKOS Glossary — Formal Appendix v0.3
Language: English master with canonical framework terms retained
This version is aligned with the current MonkTerms terminology: ΔΨ is change in attention-state; attention latency is (L_\Psi); Trajon is (\tau); Trajnica is (\Gamma); meaning density is (\rho_s); meaning mass is (M_s); and (T) is no longer used as a symbol for either Trajon or density.
0. PURPOSE
This document defines one internally coherent working system for Semonika, Meaningfy / Usmišljavanje, Trajon, Trajnica, Tonus, ΔΨ, attention latency, and MonkOS.
Its purpose is not to replace the narrative texts.
The dialogues open the door.
The formalism shows what the door is attached to.
The central sequence is:
FIELD OF EXPERIENCE → SIGNAL → INSTRUMENT → TONUS → ATTENTION → ΔΨ → RELATION → MEANINGFY / USMIŠLJAVANJE → TRAJON STEPS → TRAJNICA → MEANING STATE → CONSEQUENCE → NEW RELATION
Attention latency (L_\Psi) constrains the timing of reception and response, but it is not ΔΨ.
Semonika maps how meaning can arise, acquire structure, move through relations, and change what can happen next.
Trajon is the elementary time–path step through which change acquires duration and trajectory.
Trajnica is the bounded path of persistence formed by successive Trajon steps.
Tonus describes whether the instrument is ready to carry meaningful change without rigidity or collapse.
MonkOS protects the operational conditions of attention, signal discrimination, and human initiative.
1. DOMAIN
Let:
𝒮 = the space of possible meaning states
ℝ = time
ℳ = 𝒮 × ℝ = the meaning–time field
A point (\sigma(t) \in \mathcal S) is the current meaning state carried by an instrument at time (t).
A path through (\mathcal S) is not merely a sequence of ideas. It may include changes in attention, Tonus, memory, relation, decision, action, and consequence.
The framework treats meaning as material in one precise operational sense:
A meaning is materially consequential when it changes what a system can perceive, preserve, choose, perform, relate to, or become next.
This does not claim that meaning is ordinary physical mass.
It states that meaning can alter the future state-space of a system.
2. PRIMITIVE TERMS
2.1 SOURCE
The Source is that from which a signal arrives.
The formalism does not require the Source to be personified, localized, or owned by the instrument.
2.2 SIGNAL
A signal (s) is an impulse, relation, difference, or pattern that retains enough coherence to affect the next possible state of a system.
A difference that cannot affect anything is not yet a signal for that system.
Signal is therefore relational: what counts as signal depends on the receiver, the field, and the active relation.
2.3 INSTRUMENT
An instrument (\mathcal I) is any bounded living, collective, or technical system capable of:
- receiving a signal,
- allocating attention,
- undergoing a ΔΨ shift,
- maintaining sufficient Tonus,
- forming relations,
- carrying a path,
- and returning consequence to the field.
A human being, a group, an institution, or a robot may function as an instrument at different scales.
For humanophilic systems, the human operator retains final initiative, direction, and the right to interrupt.
2.4 RELATION
A relation (R) is the active coupling through which one state can affect another.
Relation is not an accessory added after identity.
Within the framework, identity, signal, and meaning become operational only through relation.
Nothing means alone.
Meaning does not belong exclusively to the signal, the instrument, or the context.
It occurs through their relation.
– Deus sive Relatio –
2.5 ATTENTION
Attention is the operational resource by which experience is distinguished from noise.
Let (a(t)) denote the current allocation of attention inside the local model.
Attention is not merely looking.
It changes the trajectory of what receives duration, priority, and the possibility of becoming structured.
2.6 ΔΨ — DELTA PSI
ΔΨ is the smallest operational change in attention that alters the subsequent flow of experience.
Let (\Psi(t)) be the attention-state vector:
Ψ(t) = [a(t), p(t), b(t), c(t)]ᵀ
Then:
ΔΨₜ = Ψ(t + Δt) − Ψ(t)
A shift becomes operationally significant when:
‖ΔΨₜ‖ ≥ εΨ
where (\varepsilon_\Psi) is the chosen threshold for meaningful change in attention-state.
ΔΨ is not latency.
ΔΨ is change.
A ΔΨ intervention may be a small shift in posture, breath, gaze, context, rhythm, spatial position, or immediate action — provided that it changes the next trajectory of attention.
This follows the current MonkTerms definition of ΔΨ as an operational change of attention rather than a time interval.
2.7 ATTENTION LATENCY
Attention latency (L_\Psi) is the time between the appearance of an impulse and its conscious recognition, direction, or interruption.
A usable latency window may be written:
Lmin < LΨ < Lmax
Too little usable latency can collapse reception into reflex.
Excessive latency can prevent recognition from becoming consequence.
The terminological lock is therefore:
ΔΨ = change in attention-state
LΨ = attention latency
They must not be used as synonyms.
2.8 TONUS
Tonus is the readiness of an instrument to receive pressure, redistribute tension, and remain capable of meaningful movement.
Tonus is not mood.
Tonus is not maximum force.
Tonus is the maintained condition between rigidity and collapse.
Working formal symbol:
Θ = Tonus / readiness of the instrument
The symbol (\Theta) is a working extension of this formalism.
2.9 MEANING STATE
A meaning state (\sigma) is a structured relational condition that constrains what transformations are currently possible.
Examples of regions in (\mathcal S) may include:
- latent
- compressed
- fragmented
- inherited
- examined
- rigid
- fluid
- embodied
- relational
- consequential
These are model regions, not fixed ontological categories.
2.10 CONSEQUENCE
A consequence (C) is any change returned from the instrument to the field.
A consequence may be:
- a decision,
- a word,
- a movement,
- a refusal,
- a design,
- a relation,
- a boundary,
- a repair,
- or a new structure.
Meaning that never changes any future possibility remains incomplete at the operational level.
3. FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES
3.1 RELATIONAL EXISTENCE
Nothing means alone.
A meaning exists operationally where a distinguishable difference enters an active relation and changes what can happen next.
3.2 SOURCE, INSTRUMENT, WORK
The Source gives the signal.
The instrument gives it form.
Relation creates the work.
3.3 THE AXIOM OF COHERENT CHANGE
The canonical three formulations remain:
Stabilnost je okvir u kome promena ima smisla.
Stability is the frame in which change has meaning.
Stabilan okvir je onaj koji može da prihvati smislenu promenu.
A stable frame is one that can receive meaningful change.
Okvir zadržava koherenciju dovoljno dugo da promena postane oblik.
The frame preserves coherence long enough for change to become form.
These are not three competing axioms.
They are three views of the same structural principle.
3.4 THE PATH PRINCIPLE
Meaning is a What that survives a How.
The path is not empty space between signal and destination.
The path is where meaning happens.
3.5 MATERIAL CONSEQUENCE
Meaning is operationally present when a relation changes the future state-space of a system.
Meaning is not commentary placed over the event.
Meaning is the event becoming capable of changing what comes next.
3.6 OPENNESS
An open system is not a system without boundaries.
It is a system whose boundaries can participate in meaningful change.
A system that never changes is closed.
A system that cannot preserve relation through change collapses.
A stable open system can receive change and remain recognizable.
4. THE MEANINGFY TRANSFORMATION
Canonical term + working operator
Usmišljavanje / Meaningification is the active process by which experience, through attention and relation, acquires direction and consequence.
The compact canonical relation is:
Experience + ΔΨ + Relation → Usmišljavanje / Meaningfy → Living Meaning
For the working formal model, let:
- (\sigma_k) = current meaning state
- (E_k) = current experience, including received signal and context
- (\Delta\Psi_k) = operational change in attention-state
- (R_k) = active relational configuration
- (\Theta_k) = Tonus / readiness
Then the working Meaningfy operator is:
σ₍ₖ₊₁₎ = 𝔐(σₖ, Eₖ, ΔΨₖ, Rₖ, Θₖ)
In plain language:
The next meaning state depends on what the instrument already carries, what has entered experience, how attention changes, what relation becomes active, and whether the instrument can sustain the transition.
Attention latency (L_\Psi) remains a timing constraint on recognition and response.
It is not substituted for ΔΨ inside the operator.
4.1 CONDITION OF MEANINGFUL TRANSFORMATION
A working transition is meaningfully realized when:
‖σ₍ₖ₊₁₎ − σₖ‖ > 0
K₍ₖ₊₁₎ ≥ Kmin
C₍ₖ₊₁₎ ≠ 0
where (K) is the working coherence measure.
The first condition requires actual change.
The second requires enough coherence for the path to remain recognizable.
The third requires the transformation to return consequence to the field.
Recognition without consequence is an incomplete transition.
5. SEMONIKA
5.1 DEFINITION
Semonika / Semonycs is the Physics of Meaning.
It studies how meaning:
- arises,
- acquires structure,
- is transmitted,
- changes relations,
- and becomes consequential.
Formally, the working model studies:
- the states meaning can occupy,
- the relations that stabilize or transform those states,
- the admissible transitions between states,
- and the consequences produced by those transitions.
5.2 THE SEMONIC GRAPH
Let:
G𝒮 = (V, E)
where:
V = the set of meaning states
E = the set of admissible transformations between them
An edge
σᵢ → σⱼ
exists when at least one configuration of experience, relation, ΔΨ, and instrument readiness can carry (\sigma_i) into (\sigma_j) while preserving the required minimum coherence.
Semonika therefore maps the possible What.
Not a frozen dictionary definition.
A living map of forms that meaning may take.
5.3 STATE TRANSITIONS
Examples:
latent → embodied
fragmented → relational
inherited → examined
rigid → fluid
compressed → articulated
fluid → dissipated
embodied → consequential
Not every change of language is a change of meaning.
A valid transition alters relational structure, future possibilities, or both.
5.4 THE MEANINGFY ENGINE
The canonical Meaningfy Engine is:
Fuel
Experience + ΔΨ + Relation
Process
Usmišljavanje / Meaningification
Outcome
Meaning that gains structure, duration, and consequence
Tonus may be used in this working formalism as a capacity condition.
Tonus does not create meaning.
Tonus determines whether the instrument is able to carry the transformation.
6. TONUS
Working formal extension
6.1 NORMALIZED LOAD
Let:
u ∈ [0,1]
be normalized internal load or tension.
(u \approx 0) represents limpness: insufficient tension to preserve direction.
(u \approx 1) represents rigidity: excessive tension preventing reception and adaptation.
A simple proposed normalized readiness function is:
Θ(u) = 4u(1 − u)
Therefore:
Θ(0) = 0
Θ(1/2) = 1
Θ(1) = 0
This is a working readiness model, not an empirical law.
It encodes one principle:
The instrument is least ready near collapse and rigidity and most ready near correctly distributed tension.
6.2 THREE STATES OF THE INSTRUMENT
LIMP
u → 0
Θ → 0
The instrument receives pressure but cannot preserve form or direction.
READY / RELAXED
u → 1/2
Θ → 1
The instrument has enough tension to carry form and enough openness to receive movement.
TENSE / RIGID
u → 1
Θ → 0
The instrument preserves its current form by refusing meaningful change.
6.3 TONUS PRINCIPLE
Relaxation is not the absence of tension.
Relaxation is the correct distribution of tension.
Not tense.
Not limp.
Ready.
7. TRAJON AND TRAJNICA
7.1 TRAJON — TERMINOLOGICAL LOCK
Trajon is denoted by:
τ
Canonical definition:
Trajon is the quantum of duration and path — an elementary time–path step through which change acquires duration and trajectory.
In the current formal notation:
τᵢ := (ΔtT, Δrᵢ)
Trajon is therefore not meaning density.
Trajon is not represented by (T).
Trajon is not a scalar unit of attention.
The older scalar expression:
1 τ = 1 second of attention × 1 square metre × meaning density
is retired from the canonical core.
It may remain only as historical source material.
This is the key change from the earlier version of this formalism, which still described Trajon as “meaning in motion” and retained the older scalar unit.
7.2 WORKING TRAJON FREQUENCY POSTULATE
The current Trajon model retains the working postulate:
fT = 6 × 10¹⁵ Hz
from which:
ΔtT = fT⁻¹ ≈ 1.67 × 10⁻¹⁶ s
This is a model postulate.
It is not presented as an experimentally established universal refresh rate.
7.3 ELEMENTARY TIME–PATH STEP
Let:
xᵢ := (tᵢ, rᵢ)
Then:
xᵢ₊₁ = xᵢ + (ΔtT, Δrᵢ)
and:
τᵢ := (ΔtT, Δrᵢ)
The formal meaning is simple:
A Trajon is one elementary step carrying both duration and displacement.
7.4 TRAJNICA
Trajnica is denoted by:
Γ
Canonical definition:
Trajnica is a bounded Trajon streamline / path of persistence.
It is formed from successive Trajon steps and preserves enough coherence for a form to remain recognizable through change.
For a finite sequence:
Γₙ := {x₀, x₁, …, xₙ}, n < ∞
Trajnica is bounded.
It is the path that was actually carried.
Not merely the intended path.
Not merely the declared path.
Not merely the remembered image of the path.
The path carried is the path that exists.
7.5 TRAJON AND MEANING
The phrase:
Trajon is meaning in motion.
may remain as poetic shorthand inside the narrative layer.
It is not the formal definition.
The formal lock is:
τ = elementary time–path step
Γ = bounded path / streamline built from Trajon steps
ρs = meaning density
Ms = meaning mass
8. MEANING DENSITY AND MEANING MASS
8.1 MEANING DENSITY — ρs
Meaning density is denoted by:
ρs
It is derived from the model of attention.
It is not Trajon density.
Define:
ρs(r,t) = [PΨ(r,t) · tdwell(r,t) / A] · S₁(r,t)
where:
- (P_\Psi) = intensity of attention
- (t_{\mathrm{dwell}}) = dwell time / duration of sustained attention
- (A) = area of the active field
- (S_1) = primary salience, dimensionless
The interpretation is:
Meaning density rises when attention intensity, duration, concentration of the active field, and salience combine coherently.
8.2 MEANING MASS — Ms
Meaning mass is the integral measure of meaning density through space and time:
Ms = ∬Ω×Δt ρs(r,t) S₂(r,t) dA dt
where:
(S_2) = integration of meaning, dimensionless.
(M_s) is not ordinary physical mass.
Within the model, it measures the accumulated persistence and integrative capacity of a meaning structure.
8.3 DIMENSIONAL LOCK
[fT] = s⁻¹
[ΔtT] = s
(\tau_i) is an ordered time–space step with components ((s,m)).
(\Gamma) is a bounded path / streamline and has no independent scalar unit.
[PΨ] = Ψu / s
[tdwell] = s
[A] = m²
(S_1) and (S_2) are dimensionless.
[ρs] = Ψu / m²
[Ms] = Ψu · s
The geometrical / SI representation must not be mixed with a topological “node / step” representation inside the same equation unless a separate normalization is explicitly defined.
8.4 RETIRED SYMBOL COLLISION
The symbol T is no longer used for either Trajon or meaning density.
Therefore the following older expressions are not part of the current canonical core unless reformulated with new, non-colliding variables:
- (T(r,t)) as “Trajon density”
- (J_T = Tv_a)
- (\partial T/\partial t + \nabla\cdot J_T = \Sigma-\Lambda)
- the wave equation written in (T)
- the field distribution written in (T)
These remain historical formal material, not active v0.3 notation.
9. GRAVITY OF MEANING AND INDICES
Model layer
9.1 ESCAPE THRESHOLD
For meaning mass (M_s) concentrated within characteristic radius (R):
ve = √(2GsMs / R)
This model quantity is interpreted as an escape threshold from an established semantic field.
9.2 CRITICAL / COHERENCE RADIUS
Rc = 2GsMs / vdiss²
Within the model, (R_c) describes the characteristic range over which a meaning structure can remain organizationally coherent against a stated dissipation scale.
9.3 NOISE TEMPERATURE
Use normalized quantities:
θ = σ̃ξ² / (2δ̃)
where:
- (\widetilde{\sigma}_\xi^2) = normalized noise variance
- (\widetilde{\delta}) = normalized damping / dissipation coefficient
Therefore (\theta) is dimensionless.
9.4 DISCOHERENCE INDEX
D = Ñ / √M̃s
where:
- (\widetilde N) = normalized noise load
- (\widetilde M_s) = normalized meaning mass
(D) is dimensionless.
9.5 DIMENSION OF Gs
For:
ve = √(2GsMs/R)
and:
Rc = 2GsMs/vdiss²
with:
[R] = [Rc] = m
[ve] = [vdiss] = m/s
[Ms] = Ψu · s
the model requires:
[Gs] = m³ / (Ψu · s³)
(G_s) is therefore a scaling / coupling constant of the model, not Newton’s gravitational constant.
10. RELATIONAL RESONANCE
10.1 NORMALIZED MODEL
For two scalar profiles (\rho_A) and (\rho_B) defined over the same domain (\Omega) and using the same normalization:
Rρ(A,B) = ∫Ω ρA(x)ρB(x) dx / [√∫ΩρA(x)²dx · √∫ΩρB(x)²dx]
For non-negative fields:
0 ≤ Rρ ≤ 1
For signed fields:
−1 ≤ Rρ ≤ 1
(R_\rho) is a dimensionless index of relational resonance.
It is a normalized model of structural alignment, not proof of causal interaction.
11. STABILITY WITHOUT STAGNATION
11.1 COHERENT SET
Let:
𝒜 ⊂ 𝒮
be the set of meaning states that preserve the identity of a path while allowing meaningful transformation.
(\mathcal A) is not one frozen endpoint.
It is a stable frame of admissible change.
11.2 OPEN-STABILITY CRITERION
A working open-stability criterion is:
there exists at least one admissible new experience (E_{\text{new}}) such that:
𝔐(σ, Enew, ΔΨ, R, Θ) ≠ σ
while:
K′ ≥ Kmin
The first condition encodes openness.
The second encodes preserved coherence.
A system that never changes is closed.
A system that cannot preserve relation through change is collapsed.
A living system can receive meaningful change and remain recognizable.
11.3 FINAL STABILITY FORM
A system is not stable because it does not change.
A system is stable when it:
**receives change
- preserves relation
- produces form**
12. MINIMAL TFL FORM
The minimal Trajon Formal Language representation is:
FIELD MeaningField {
attention_power : P_psi
dwell_time : t_dwell
area : A
salience : S1
}
rho_s = (P_psi * t_dwell / A) * S1
STATE psi_0
INTERVENE {
body_shift,
breath_shift,
gaze_shift,
context_shift
}
STATE psi_1
DELTA_PSI = psi_1 - psi_0
The distinction remains clear:
The intervention produces ΔΨ.
ΔΨ is the change between attention states.
Latency is modeled separately as (L_\Psi).
13. MONKOS
13.1 DEFINITION
MonkOS means Monk Open System.
It is an operating system of attention: a practical and conceptual framework for distinguishing signal from noise, preserving initiative, and turning attention into coherent action.
MonkOS is not the Source.
MonkOS does not manufacture the signal.
It organizes the conditions under which the signal can be recognized, carried, tested, and returned as consequence.
13.2 CONTROL DOMAIN
A working MonkOS control layer may regulate or support:
- attention allocation,
- attention latency,
- ΔΨ interventions,
- noise filtering,
- Tonus / readiness,
- boundary openness,
- transition timing,
- coherence recovery.
The distinction is important:
MonkOS can tune the receiver.
It does not substitute a preferred signal for the signal received.
13.3 SOVEREIGN INITIATIVE
The human operator remains the source of intention and final decision.
Augmentation may expand capacity.
It must not silently replace authorship, direction, or the right to interrupt.
13.4 CITY MONK PRINCIPLE
You are not required to manufacture the signal.
You are responsible for the condition of the receiver.
14. THE COMPLETE LOOP
- A signal arises within the Field of Experience.
- The instrument receives the signal through a boundary.
- Tonus (\Theta) describes whether the instrument is ready to carry pressure without rigidity or collapse.
- Attention allocates priority and duration.
- A ΔΨ shift changes the attention-state and opens a different possible trajectory.
- Attention latency (L_\Psi) constrains the time between impulse and conscious recognition, direction, or interruption.
- Relation (R) determines what the signal can affect and what can affect it.
- Meaningfy / Usmišljavanje transforms experience into a new structured meaning state.
- Trajon (\tau) names the elementary time–path steps through which the transformation acquires duration and trajectory.
- Trajnica (\Gamma) is the bounded path of persistence formed by those steps.
- Semonika maps the possible states, relations, and transformations of meaning.
- Consequence (C) returns the transformation to the field.
- The returned consequence changes the field from which future signals will be received.
Therefore:
Meaning is not placed only at the beginning.
Meaning is not waiting only at the end.
Meaning is the relational transformation that changes what can happen next.
